How Do I Start?

I always begin with a free 15- minute phone consultation to make sure that we are a good fit. During this brief conversation, I find out what issues and problems you are seeking help for, and what you are looking for in entering therapy.  If this is your first experience with therapy, on that call I briefly explain how the therapeutic process works and answer any questions you might have.  This is your chance to get a sense of how we can work together to achieve your goals.

What Should I Expect From The First Session?

The Initial Session is an informational and history-gathering session.  It is designed to further explain the therapeutic process and to begin to establish a safe and healing therapeutic relationship.  We will review your reasons for coming to therapy and what your goals and hopes are.  I will take a history of your background from childhood to the present, review the forms I will have you fill out prior to the session, and we will come up with a preliminary treatment plan.  This first session takes around an hour, and subsequent sessions are 50 minutes.

How Often Will We Have Sessions?

Once a week is preferable, as this allows for better continuity and faster results. After the first several sessions, if we agree that having sessions every other week would be beneficial, we can discuss that possibility.

Do You Offer Office Visits Or Telementalhealth?

My practice is primarily online but, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions.

Do You Take Insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider.  If you have out-of-network benefits (call your insurance to find out), I can provide you with the necessary documents (called a Superbill) to submit to your insurance for reimbursement once your deductible is reached.  You might also be able to pay for sessions using a Health Savings Account (HSA) card or your Flexible Spending Account (FSA). 

While I can answer more questions, you are responsible to find out what your insurance will cover. 
Questions to ask your insurance include:

·       Am I covered for psychotherapy with an out-of-network provider?

·       Do I need prior authorization?

·       Do I have a deductible, and if so, how much of it is met so far this year?

·       How many sessions will be covered each year?

·       How much will I be reimbursed for?

·       How do I submit the Super bill? 

I have a billing person who can help you sort this out. I will give you her number should we decide to work together.
